Tetra Tech joint venture gets $62M deal |

PASADENA, Calif. (AP) - Tetra Tech Inc. on Friday said its joint venture with STEM International Inc. won a $62 million Army contract to handle the nation's chemical warfare materials.The five-year contract awarded to joint venture STEM-Tech will support efforts by the U.S. Army Chemical Materials Agency to safely store and destroy U.S. aging chemical weapons and recover chemical warfare materials. Tetra Tech is an environmental management, consulting and technical services company.STEM-Tech will perform the work at Maryland-based Aberdeen Proving Ground and eight other chemical weapons sites nationwide.Services include engineering design, risk assessment and environmental testing.Shares of Tetra Tech dropped 9 cents to $18.07 in morning trading on the Nasdaq Stock Market.Copyright 2006 Associated Press.
