FRANKFURT (Thomson Financial) - German shares are expected to open higher, tracking higher closes on the DJIA Friday and on Asian exchanges this morning, dealers said.

At 8.16 am, brokerage Lang & Schwarz forecast the DAX 30 index to open up around 33 points at 7,245. The DAX closed 69.12 points or 0.97 pct higher at 7,212.07 on Friday.

Among shares being watched this morning, Metro should benefit after Credit Suisse raised its stance on the retailer to 'outperform.'

Financial stocks are expected to perform well after ABN Amro confirmed it has been approached by Royal Bank of Scotland, Banco Santander and Fortis concerning takeover talks.

DaimlerChrysler is seen opening lower at a report in Der Spiegel said that the automaker wants to retain a minority stake in its Chrysler unit.
