PARIS (AFX) - The Indian Tata group's international arm, VSNL Global, launched its Cipris unit in Paris today, aimed at small and medium-sized business customers in Europe, starting with France, Switzerland and Germany.It is the first attempt by an Indian telecommunications company to launch commercially in Europe.Cipris is aiming to offer support services in telephone and internet and information technology for small and medium-sized businesses wishing to expand abroad. For example, it would instal an electronic messaging system or telephone help desk in the foreign countries where the company was setting up.Cipris' managing director told a press conference that his company would also have a presence in Italy by the end of this year.Tata is an Indian conglomerate active in automobiles, steel, tea and computer software. Its unit VSNL has been developing overseas since 2004, particularly since the acquisition in 2006, of Teleglobe, the world leading provider of voice, data and telecoms applications via mobile devices.
