(Updating with Sanofi-Aventis, Novo Nordisk comments)PARIS Thomson Financial - Sanofi-Aventis said it will 'vigorously' defend its rights to ensure the availability of its products after Danish drug company Novo Nordisk said it is suing the French pharmaceutical group over patent infrigement relating to Solostar, its insulin-delivery pen.At 1.36 pm, Novo Nordisk shares were up 1.00 dkr, or 0.2 pct at 593.00, while shares in Sanofi-Aventis dropped 0.37 eur or 0.6 pct to 62 eur.Sanofi-Aventis has not yet been served with a complaint by Novo and our understanding of Novo's allegation is very preliminary,' a spokesman for Sanofi-Aventis told Thomson Financial.'Nevertheless it is our policy to vigorously defend our right to ensure the availability of our products,' he said.Novo Nordisk claims Solostar infringes a patent for one of its own insulin delivery systems.The case has been presented to a court in Trenton, New Jersey, said Michael Laub, a spokesman for Novo Nordisk. But he added it is still too early to tell when the legal process will start.Sanofi-Aventis announced at the end of April this year that the US Food and Drug Administration had approved Solostar for sale in the US.
