FDA to review Abilify for depression |

PRINCETON, N.J. (AP) - Drug maker Bristol-Myers Squibb said Tuesday government regulators have granted its drug Abilify a priority review for a new use against depression.Bristol-Myers currently co-promotes Abilify with Japanese firm Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co. Abilify is used to treat bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. The companies asked the FDA to approve the drug as an antidepressant for adults with major depression.The FDA's decision means the agency will aim to review the antipsychotic drug in six months, instead of the usual 10 months.Shares of Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. rose 4 cents Tuesday to close at $32.14.Copyright 2007 Associated Press.
