ZURICH (Thomson Financial) - Swiss shares closed sharply higher after a nervous trading session, helped by early gains on Wall Street following the Fed's decision to lower its discount rate, sparking a rebound among banks and insurers.At the close, the Swiss Market Index was 120.75 points or 1.4 pct higher at 8,543.03, while the Swiss Performance Index rose 86.33 points to 6,936.40.The euro fell to 1.6254 sfr while the dollar dropped to 1.2048 sfr.sarah.fenwick@thomson.comat/slj/at/ms1COPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2007.
