FRANKFURT (Thomson Financial) - Porsche AG said it is exercising its option of extending an assembly cooperation with Valmet Automotive until 2011 to offset production capacity squeezes at its site in Zuffenhausen, Germany. The Finnish automotive supplier will build mid-engine Boxster and Cayman model cars.Porsche signed a cooperation with Valmet in 1997 when demand for the 911 model sports car used up the German carmaker's entire production capacity and forced the company to outsource production of the Boxster.Since then, Valmet has assembled more than 180,000 units of the Boxster series.maria.sheahan@thomson.commas/bsdCOPYRIGHTCopyright Thomson Financial News Limited 2007.
