BUDAPEST (Thomson Financial) - German car maker Audi AG said it has started production of a new engine type after a 46 mln eur investment at its Hungarian plant.The 'Common Rail' diesel engine, a four cylinder injection engine with a capacity of two litres, will be used in the Audi A4 as well as other Audi and VW models.The plant, in Gyor, western Hungary, is capable of producing 2,300 of the diesel engines each day, said operating company Audi Hungaria, a fully owned subsidiary of Audi and one of Hungary's largest companies.Audi makes the TT Coupe and Roadster models at its Hungarian plant, which is the primary supplier of engines to VW and Audi.
