TAIPEI (XFN-ASIA) - Cisco Systems Inc and Alcatel-Lucent have both approached ZyXEL Communications Corp (2391.TW), a supplier of networking devices, for a possible acquisition, the Economic Daily News reported, citing a source familiar with the matter.After Cisco made the proposal several weeks ago, Alcatel-Lucent soon followed suit with its own offer, the source said.Alcatel-Lucent is interested only in the Taiwan company's IP-DSLAN division, which caters mainly to telecom service providers, and is offering to buy it for 4.5-4.8 bln twd, the source added.The division's annual revenue is over 3 bln twd.(1 usd = 32.80 twd)philip.wang@afxasia.com
