MILPITAS, Calif. (AFX) - Chip maker Linear Technology Corp. said late Tuesday its president, David Bell, resigned and will not be replaced as the company is eliminating his role.Bell resigned after 12 years with Linear to spend more time with his family and pursue personal interests, the company said.Lothar Maier, chief executive, will assume Bell's duties.The company's shares fell $1.31, or 4.1 percent, to $30.40 in premarket trading.Copyright 2006 Associated Press.
