PITTSBURGH (AFX) - Allegheny Technologies Inc., which makes specialty metals for use in a broad range of industries, on Wednesday said it plans to invest about $60 million to expand its titanium and specialty plate facility in Washington, Pa.The company said the expansion is meant to meet growing demand from the aerospace and defense, chemical process industry, oil and gas, and electrical energy markets.Allegheny Technologies expects to complete the project in the second quarter of 2008.Shares of Allegheny Technologies rose 51 cents to $91.01 in morning trading on the New York Stock Exchange.Copyright 2006 Associated Press.
