FRANKFURT (Thomson Financial) - United Internet AG will not make a takeover offer to Freenet AG shareholders this year, a company spokesman told Boersen-Zeitung. He added that United Internet is continuing to look into all options in this regard.United Internet and Drillisch AG said in a Sept 21 statement that they jointly bought a stake in Freenet and were considering buying the German internet and mobile-phone services provider outright.Earlier this month, Drillisch chief executive Paschalis Choulidis said the two companies remain interested in taking over Freenet after the Financial Times Deutschland had reported such plans were shelved for lack of funds. Both both companies hold a combined 30 pct stake in Freenet through their joint-venture MSP Holding.judith.csaba@thomson.comjcs/jfrCOPYRIGHTCopyright Thomson Financial News Limited 2007.
