BUDAPEST (Thomson Financial) - A legal battle has erupted in Hungary between the country's leading public television station Magyar Televizio (MTV) and MTV Music Television over the rights to the famous three initials.Magyar Televizio said today it was suing the global music TV channel for infringement of its trademark after MTV launched its own Hungarian-language channel in October using the same three initials.'Magyar Televizio has been using MTV as its initials for decades and in order to protect it we have filed a lawsuit' with the court in Budapest, the public broadcaster said in a statement.Magyar Televizio, which this year celebrates its 50th anniversary, argues that it holds the exclusive rights to the trademark initials in Hungary and has registered the trademark with the Hungarian Patent Office.tf.TFN-Europe_newsdesk@thomson.comafp/akCOPYRIGHTCopyright Thomson Financial News Limited 2007.
