SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Procter & Gamble Co. said it will build a manufacturing plant for paper products in Utah's Box Elder County.The $300 million investment in northwestern Utah announced Wednesday will be up and running in 2010 with at least 300 jobs.The announcement came a week after Utah approved tax breaks that could be worth as much as $85 million. Construction will start next year.P&G said the factory will serve markets in the western U.S. The company makes paper towels, toilet paper and facial tissue under the names Bounty, Charmin and Puffs.'I look forward to officially welcoming one of America's top corporate citizens to the state of Utah,' Gov. Jon Huntsman said in a statement.P&G said its Family Care division hasn't built a factory in the U.S. since a plant in Oxnard, Calif., opened in 1973.The Box Elder plant will have a new paper machine, converting lines and warehouse space, P&G said.It could have 500 workers by 2012 and hundreds more in subsequent years, according to the Governor's Office of Economic Development.The plant will be built a few miles west of Brigham City, P&G spokesman Celeste Kuta said.Copyright 2007 Associated Press.
