WARSAW (Thomson Financial) - Poland's largest oil firm PKN Orlen could bid for a stake in the Transalpine oil pipeline (TAL), running from the Italian port of Trieste to the Czech Republic, Austria and Germany, a Polish news agency reported.Citing comments by Czech subsidiary Unipetrol's chief executive, PAP state news agency said that either Unipetrol or PKN itself could buy a stake in the pipeline to assure supplies to its Czech refinery.'We want to increase the TAL capacity,' the agency quoted CEO Francois Vleugels as saying.'We are trying to do this with the help of the company Mero, but if this doesn't happens, then either Unipetrol or PKN Orlen can buy shares in the pipeline.'PKN declined to comment on the report.Unipetrol investor relations chief Radek Nemecek said he had no knowledge of Unipetrol buying a stake. 'If it was Unipetrol I would know,' he said.patrick.graham@thomson.compjg/raCOPYRIGHTCopyright Thomson Financial News Limited 2007.
