CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said Tuesday that a natural gas pipeline being built between Venezuela and Colombia will be completed by early August -- five months later than earlier estimates.Chavez announced the new date in a meeting with his Colombian counterpart, Alvaro Uribe, the Venezuelan government said in a statement. The two leaders inaugurated construction last July on the 145-mile pipeline, which will connect Colombia's La Guajira fields with Venezuela's Paraguana Peninsula.Venezuelan Oil Minister Rafael Ramirez said then that the pipeline would be finished by March 2007 and cost $335 million.Venezuela and Colombia are studying the possibility of eventually extending the pipeline to Panama.Chavez and Uribe met on the sidelines of a two-day energy summit of South American leaders on Venezuela's Margarita island.Copyright 2007 Associated Press.
