Lufthansa still interested in acquisitions; main focus on organic growth |

BERLIN, Germany (Thomson Financial) - Deutsche Lufthansa AG chief executive Wolfgang Mayrhuber said the airline is generally interested in making acquisitions if the right opportunity arises.The company 'is in the position to make acquisitions (such as) 'Swiss',' he said, but added that the flagship carrier wants to 'mainly grow organically'.Mayrhuber also reiterated that Lufthansa aims to exceed 1 bln eur operating profit in 2008 at the latest.In the past weeks, the market speculated that Lufthansa may want to take over Alitalia or Iberia.The company said in the past that Iberia is currently too expensive due to the high speculation on the market.patrizia.kokot@thomson.compk/mas/ambCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2007.
