G8 MEETING France's Borloo will not attend |

POTSDAM, Germany (Thomson Financial) - New French Finance Minister Jean-Louis Borloo will not attend this weekend's meeting of G8 finance ministers in Potsdam, a spokesman said.Borloo was only appointed to the post this morning by new French President Nicolas Sarkozy.The G8 meeting started this evening and finishes tomorrow afternoon.Treasury director Xavier Musca will represent France at the meeting.However, Borloo is not the only absentee from the G8 meeting.US Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson is missing the meeting, officially to prepare for a visit to Washington next week by a high level Chinese delegation.And the World Bank is not represented at the meeting at all following Paul Wolfowitz's decision to resign as the bank's president late yesterday.UK Chancellor of the Exchequer Gordon Brown will only arrive in Potsdam later this evening.steve.whitehouse@thomson.comafp/sw/ppCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2007.
