NEW YORK (AFX) - An industry-backed research group has revised its calendar for releasing its Index of Leading Economic Indicators to coordinate it with the disclosure of housing data.Under the new schedule, the closely watched gauge of future economic activity will be released on Monday, Jan. 22, rather than on Thursday as originally planned. The group has changed two other release dates in 2007. The board plans to report the index on May 17 rather than on May 21 and on Nov. 21 instead of Nov. 19, as originally planned.Spokesman Frank Tortorici said Thursday the group revised the schedule to keep release dates in line with when housing data is disclosed. The index tracks 10 economic indicators including stock prices, vendor performance, building permits and consumer confidence. It is designed to predict economic activity three to six months in the future.Copyright 2006 Associated Press. All rights reserved.
