BEIJING (XFN-ASIA) - China's air passenger traffic totaled 15.47 mln people in May, up 19.4 pct year-on-year, with cargo traffic up 16.1 pct at 306,000 tons, the General Administration of Civil Aviation of China (CAAC) said.The administration said in a statement that the aviation sector's total revenue increased 10.9 pct year-on-year to 21.08 bln yuan in May while total costs rose 2.6 pct to 19.94 bln. It did not provide net profit figures.Passenger traffic increased 19.3 pct year-on-year on domestic routes and 20.2 pct for international routes in the month, the CAAC said.Cargo traffic in May rose 12.5 pct and 26.8 pct on domestic and foreign air routes, it added.The passenger load factor for the country's airlines stood at 73.5 pct in May, 2.4 percentage points higher than the same period last year, the CAAC said.Private carrier Spring Airlines led the market with both passenger and cargo load factors surpassing 90 pct.(1 usd = 7.63 yuan)derek.jiang@xfn.com
