Czech May retail sales growth the slowest so far this year

PRAGUE (Thomson Financial) - Czech May retail sales grew 7.1 pct year on year due to spending on a variety of consumer and household goods, including foodstuffs.

The growth in May was the slowest so far this year and is lagging market expectations of 7.4 pct.

'Retail sales have been growing for forty consecutive months now and a moderate slowdown is nothing surprising,' said Ales Michl, an analyst at Raiffeisenbank.
