ZURICH (Thomson Financial) - Roche Holdings AG is on course to launch its cancer drug Avastin in the US for the treatment of non-small cell cancer in the second half of 2007, said chief executive Franz Humer in an interview on CNBC.Commenting on Roche's hostile takeover offer for Ventana Medical Systems Inc, Humer said that he still hopes that Ventana will enter constructive talks, but if not, Roche will continue in its hostile takeover.Humer also said he was confident that Roche will win an on-going patent dispute with Amgen Inc over anti-anaemia drug Mircera.Amgen is suing Roche over allegations that Mircera violates six US erythropoietin (EPO) patents related to Amgen's anaemia drugs Epogen and Aranesp.Court proceedings will start in September.sarah.fenwick@thomson.comsf/slmCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2007.
