Blackstone declines to comment on Continental interest

LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Blackstone declined to comment on its interest in Continental AG, following a report in the German press that Continental's managers fear a takeover by the private equity group if Blackstone's bid on Siemens VDO is successful.

A spokesperson for the private equity group said that similar rumours had been around for weeks and that it was all speculation for the moment.
