COPENHAGEN (Thomson Financial) - Shares were slightly lower midmorning following a mixed overnight close on Wall Street and falls in Asia, but Carlsberg AS rebounded somewhat from yesterday's downturn.

At 10.20 am, the OMXC20 index was down 3.66 points at 495.03 and the OMXCB Benchmark index shed 3.26 points to 474.18.

Carlsberg AS was up 5.00 dkr at 714.00, following losses yesterday amid worries concerning the price and financing of a coming acquisition of Scottish & Newcastle.

The Times said, citing sources close to S&N, that the British brewer will consider selling its 50 pct stake in BBH or approaching a white knight bidder to stave off the hostile takeover bid by Carlsberg and Heineken NV announced Wednesday.

The Times said S&N's incoming chief executive John Dunsmore would head the bid defence together with advisors Deutsche Bank and UBS.

Jyske Bank AS shed 1.00 dkr to 413.00, following yesterday's stronger-than-expected nine-months report.

Novo Nordisk AS was down 4.00 dkr at 603.00. Daily Boersen said the pharmaceutical company aims for a bigger share of the Brazilian insulin market.

Among other heavily traded shares, William Demant AS fell 13.00 dkr to 424.50, AP Moller Maersk AS shed 700 dkr to 70,700 and DS Norden AS gained 3.00 dkr to 644.00.
