LONDON (Thomson Financial) - The UK government predicts that over 10 pct of the UK's electricity will come from combined heat and power (CHP) technology by 2010, which would help cut carbon emissions in line with EU targets. In two reports published today, the government said that CHP - a fuel-efficient process which generates heat and power simultaneously - will produce at least 36 TWh of the projected 350 TWh of UK electricity demand by 2010.Companies are likely to be offered tax breaks for energy produced by CHP as well as reward for carbon credits saved under the European carbon trading scheme.edward.mcallister@thomson.comejm/lamCOPYRIGHTCopyright Thomson Financial News Limited 2007.
