KETTERING, Ohio (AP) - Delphi Corp. has notified union officials representing workers at a company's parts plant in this Dayton suburb that it may shift production of some of the work elsewhere, a Delphi official said Monday. The plant, which employs about 900 hourly and salaried workers, makes suspension systems and parts. In March 2006, Delphi said the plant was one of its noncore operations and that efforts were being made to sell the plant or consolidate or wind down operations there.Delphi spokesman Lindsey Williams said no decision had been made on whether to move production, how many parts might be made elsewhere or when that might happen.Steve Shope, president of International Union of Electronics Workers/Communication Workers of America Local 755, declined to comment. Local 755 represents hourly workers at the plant.Copyright 2007 Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.
