BEIJING (XFN-ASIA) - China's 'average' consumer price index (CPI) rose by 2.7 pct in the first quarter, the National Bureau of Statistics said.In a statement on the agency's website introducing CPI data for Hunan province, the bureau said CPI growth in the province was 2.3 percentage points higher than China's 'average' level of 2.7 pct.It was unclear whether the agency's 'average' was refers to the national figure, or a weighted indicator by province.China will announce the national CPI figure, among others, at 3 pm today.China's CPI rose 2.4 pct in the first two months of 2007, with a rise of 2.7 pct in February and 2.2 pct in January.zachary.wei@xfn.com
