BEIJING (XFN-ASIA) - The urban registered unemployment rate was 4.1 pct at the end of 2006, the official Xinhua News Agency reported, citing data from the Ministry of Labor and Social Security.Xinhua said 11.84 mln people found jobs last year in China's cities.There were about 186.49 mln and 157.37 mln people covered by pension and medical care respectively at the end of 2006.Meanwhile, the unemployment, work injury and paternity insurance fund had 111.87 mln, 102.35 mln and 64.46 mln people respectively covered at the end of 2006, Xinhua said.Xinhua earlier quoted vice minister of Labor and Social Security Zhang Xiaojian as saying that China has set its unemployment rate target for 2007 at under 4.6 pct.zachary.wei@xfn.com
