Roche's Avastin receives positive EU opinion as lung cancer treatment |

BASEL (Thomson Financial) - Roche Holding AG's Avastin drug, for the treatment of lung cancer, has been recommended for EU approval by the EU's Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP).The EU Commission generally follows the recommendations of the CHMP and delivers its final decision within two to three months.Avastin is already approved for the treatment of colon cancer.Yesterday, Roche chief executive Franz Humer said the drug is on course for a US launch for the treatment of non-small cell cancer in the second half of 2007.Avastin had recorded sales of 1.9 bln sfr during the first half of 2007.andrew.ge.thompson@thomson.comat/sljCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2007.
