Ford to open 135 new dealerships in India in current yr |

MUMBAI (Thomson Financial) - Ford India, a wholly-owned subsidiary of US-based Ford Motor Company, plans to more than double the number of dealerships across India in the current financial year, the Business Standard reported.The company currently has 115 outlets across India and plans to strengthen its base in the domestic market with the opening of 135 new outlets, Ford India's vice-president for marketing, sales and services, Scott McCormack said.The company registered a 45 pct growth in sales in the 2006/07 financial year, the paper added.Ford India manufactures passenger cars at its integrated manufacturing facility near Chennai in Tamil Nadu.McCormack also said the company has no plans to enter the small car segment.TFN.newsdesk@thomson.comans/ra/lamCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2007.
