BONN (Thomson Financial) - German regulator Bundesnetzagentur has modified the rules for access networks orders from Deutsche Telekom AG in a move to ease a contract hold-up in the broadband market.Previously, the watchdog said that it sees the upsurge in the broadband market encumbered by a contract hold-up concerning orders of the access network, which is provided by Deutsche Telekom.Competitors Arcor and Telefonica SA had previously filed a complaint with the regulator, saying that customers' DSL accesses -- which they have to order from Deutsche Telekom -- would be delayed. However, DSL-competitors can now apply for their demand of networks at Deutsche Telekom, which in turn, has to ensure the allocation. If the ordered contingents should not be used by the competitors, Deutsche Telekom would then get a financial compensation. So far, Deutsche Telekom only has to receive a number of orders or access networks oriented to the need of the former months.christoph.steitz@thomson.comcs1/ajbCOPYRIGHTCopyright Thomson Financial News Limited 2007.
