SYDNEY (XFN-ASIA) - New motor vehicle sales in January totaled 86,465 units, up 5.3 pct from December in seasonallyadjusted terms, the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) said.In December, new vehicle sales rose 1.4 pct from November which was revised from the previous estimate of a 0.8 pct increase.Over the year to January, new vehicle sales rose 5.8 pct.New passenger vehicle sales, in seasonally adjusted terms, rose 5.6 pct in January from a month earlier to 54,383 units, sport utility vehicle sales climbed 3.0 pct to 15,276 while other vehicle sales increased 6.5 pct to 16,806 units, the ABS said.In trend terms, new vehicle sales last month were up 0.6 pct from December to 83,866.paul.daniel@xfn.compd/mas
