Lukoil buy of ConocoPhilips subsidiaries cleared by EU

BRUSSELS (AFX) - The European Commission said it has cleared the proposed

acquisition by Russian oil and gas company Lukoil of six subsidiaries of

ConocoPhillips, an integrated energy company based in the US.

Exploration Co to buy Output Exploration

SAN ANTONIO (AP) - Exploration Co., an independent oil and gas company, said

Wednesday it will acquire Output Exploration LLC, a privately held exploration

and production firm, in a cash and stock deal valued at about $95.6 million.

Seadrill to be forced to pay 135 nkr a share for Eastern Drilling

OSLO (AFX) - Seadrill Ltd has been told to pay 135 nkr a share for the

remaining shares in Eastern Drilling ASA that it does not already own, a source

close to the matter said, after the Oslo Bors Appeals Committee today rejected a

request to delay the implementation of an earlier ruling.

Steel mill sale order questioned

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) - The United Steelworkers union and Maryland's economic

development chief say they disagree with a federal order that global steel giant

Mittal Steel Co. sell its Sparrows Point mill near Baltimore to settle antitrust

issues raised by the Dutch company's planned acquisition of Arcelor SA.
