Continental AG examines 3-5 other major acquisitions as alternative to VDO

FRANKFURT (Thomson Financial) - Continental AG chief executive Manfred Wennemer said his company is currently examining three to five other major acquisition targets in case it fails to acquire Siemens AG's automotive unit VDO, his spokesman confirmed.

Speaking at a conference, Wennemer said VDO would be a good strategic fit for Continental but the latter has some other targets in mind if Siemens finally makes a decision to float VDO on the bourse.
