FRANKFURT (AFX) - Six private banks will acquire 60 pct of DaimlerChrysler AG's 7.5 pct stake in EADS, while the German government and five German states will acquire the remaining 40 pct, weekly Focus reported in a pre-release of its Monday edition citing unnamed sources.

According to the report, the 7.5 pct stake will cost 1.5 bln eur.

The German government will acquire 13 pct of the stake through its KfW Kreditanstalt fuer Wiederaufbau and the city states of Hamburg and Bremen will acquire 10 pct and 2 pct respectively, the weekly said.

Bavaria, Lower Saxony and Baden-Wuerttemberg will buy 5 pct each, the report said, adding the takeover consortium also comprises Deutsche Bank, Commerzbank, Goldman Sachs and three other unnamed private banks.

The German government said on Friday it expects to announce an agreement regarding its proposal for a consortium of banks to acquire part of DaimlerChrysler's stake in EADS by the end of January.
