Honeywell gets conservation contract |

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Honeywell International Inc. said Thursday it was awarded an 11-year, $15.1 million contract aimed to cut energy costs and reduce emissions at nine U.S Coast Guard locations.Under the contract, Honeywell will implement solar-powered hot water generators, new heating, cooling and ventilation systems and more efficient toilets and faucets across more than 250 buildings at locations in California, Hawaii, Oregon and Washington. The improvements are expected to reduce utility costs by more than 15 percent.The work will be funded by the energy savings generated by the upgrades, Honeywell said.The contract builds on an initial $1.5 million contract awarded in 1999, which centered on the Coast Guard's Alameda, Calif., facility.Honeywell, based in Morris Township, N.J., is a diversified manufacturer that makes products for the aerospace, automotive and building industries.Shares of Honeywell fell 9 cents to $56.45 in morning trading.--------------------Questions or comments about this story should be directed to AP Financial News at 212-621-7190.Copyright 2007 Associated Press.
