(Adds detail on ownership of GE-Hitachi)LONDON (Thomson Financial) - GE-Hitachi Nuclear Energy, a joint venture between General Electric Co and Hitachi Ltd, said it has submitted its ESBWR reactor design for assessment by UK regulators.The company said the move comes as the UK considers whether to build a fleet of new nuclear reactors.GE-Hitachi said it expects to be notified within two weeks whether the design will be included in the first group of reactor designs to be assessed by the UK.ESBWR is known as the economic simplified boiling water reactor or the European simplified boiling water reactor, according to the US Energy Information Administration, the statistics agency of the US Department of Energy.GE-Hitachi is 60 pct owned by GE and 40 pct by Hitachi.tf.TFN-Europe_newsdesk@thomson.comwjCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2007.
