Statoil to begin seismic exploration in Libya |

OSLO (AFX) - Statoil ASA said it is preparing to shoot more than 2,000 km of 2D seismic data at its Kufra licence in the south-east of Libya, the first time the Norwegian firm has undertaken such an activity in the country.The Norwegian oil-and-gas giant was awarded two land-based licences in Libya in the autumn of 2005 and said the first stage of data collection is now about to commence.Statoil opened its office in Tripoli in 2005.alastair.reed@thomson.comar/sljCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2007.
