EU steps up legal action against UK and Spain over free movement of services |

BRUSSELS (AFX) - The European Commission said it has taken legal action against the UK, Austria, Spain and Luxembourg over measures that infringe EU rules on the free movement of services.It has sent a are asoned opinion' -- the second stage in the EU's legal process -- to the UK over pharmacy prescription services and to Spain over private security services.The two states have two months to give a 'satisfactory' reply, or face court action.It has also launched infringement proceedings against Luxembourg over the posting of workers from non-EU countries and to Austria over the posting of third-country nationals.simon.zekaria@thomson.comsz/jlcCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2007.
