AMITYVILLE, N.Y. (AP) - Drug developer Hi-Tech Pharmacal Co. said Tuesday the Food and Drug Administration granted tentative approval to the company's generic version of Dermik Laboratories' Penlac, a topical nail fungus treatment.Final approval of ciclopriox, the generic version of Penlac, is expected Sept. 18, when Dermik's patent on the topical solution expires, the company said in a news release.Last month the FDA granted tentative approval for its generic version of Warner Chilcott Ltd.'s Calcipotriene, a topical solution that treats psoriasis of the scalp.Copyright 2007 Associated Press.
