WASHINGTON (AP) - Wachovia Corp. won federal approval to open three new bank branches, a regulatory agency said.The Treasury Department's Office of the Comptroller of the Currency said in a weekly bulletin of regulatory activity, released Wednesday, that Charlotte, N.C.-based Wachovia's requests to open the branches were approved Aug. 15 and Aug. 16.The branches will be located in: Houston, Texas; East Hartford, Conn.; and Concord, N.C.The agency also said it received three applications from Wachovia Aug. 13 to open branches in Pacific Palisades, Calif.; Ashburn, Va.; and Port Hueneme, Calif.Shares of Wachovia rose 5 cents to $49.29 in afternoon trading Wednesday.Copyright 2007 Associated Press.
