MILAN (AFX) - Banca Popolare di Milano managing director Fabrizio Viola said the bank will decide within two to three weeks 'at the most' whether to go ahead with a merger with Banca Popolare dell'Emilia Romagna, the daily Finanza & Mercati reported.Viola added that the two banks are currently in preliminary talks to evaluate the opportunity of a link-up.The manager ruled out speculation of a three-way merger with Banca Popolare Italiana, if the latter's planned merger with Banco Popolare di Verona e Novara fails.philip.webster@thomson.compw/cmrCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2006.
