BRUSSELS (AFX) - Solvay Solexis, a fully-owned subsidiary of Belgian chemical and pharmaceutical group Solvay SA, said it will double perfluoropolyether (PFPE) polymers production capacity at its manufacturing plant in Spinetta Marengo, Italy. The expansion plans include a major capacity increase for PFPEs sold under the Solvera and Fluorolink brand names, to be rolled out during 2008.Solvay declined to reveal the plant's current capacity.PFPE polymers are primarily used as water and grease repellents for grease-proof paper packaging, textiles and carpets. The global market for water and grease repellent products is worth more than 500 mln eur, said a Solvay spokesperson.julian.hale@thomson.comjh/ms1COPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2006.
