MILAN (AFX) - Shares in Mediaset SpA were higher in late morning trade following the resignation of Italian prime minister Romano Prodi whose plans to carry out a television reform could be delayed but not shelved, dealers said.At 10.50 am Mediaset shares were 1.29 pct higher at 9.26 eur while the Mibtel index was up 0.30 pct at 32,900.'There could be some delay to the Gentiloni TV reform package but I think it's all a bit of a storm in a teacup really since it looks like Prodi will be asked back to form another government,' a dealer said. The Italian government has proposed a draft law which includes the introduction of a 45 pct limit on the market share in television advertising revenues for a sole broadcaster.Mediaset chairman Fedele Confalonieri recently told parliament that the draft law could cost the company up to one third of its revenues.Mediaset is controlled by Fininvest which in turn is controlled by centre-right opposition leader Silvio Berlusconi.stephen.jewkes@thomson.comnt/jlcCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2006.
