French govt okays social security reimbursement of Sanofi-Aventis' Acomplia |

PARIS (AFX) - Sanofi-Aventis said the French government has authorised the reimbursement by health insurance companies and state social security plans of the company's anti-obesity drug Acomplia with effect from today.The government gave its approval via a decree published in the Official Journal, Sanofi-Aventis said.Sanofi-Aventis had announced last month that Acomplia had received a 'favourable recommendation' from the independent Transparency Committee for reimbursement by health insurance companies and state social security for diabetic, obese patients.Acomplia is now reimbursable for obese patients with Type 2 diabetes, with the social security system paying 35 pct of the 71.63 eur cost of a 28day course.paris@afxnews.comgt/jlwCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2007.
