FRANKFURT (Thomson Financial) - The German government is expected to raise its forecast for domestic economic growth in 2007 and 2008 to around 2.4 pct on Wednesday, weekly Der Spiegel reported in an excerpt of an article to be released tomorrow. It added that the government is largely adopting the GDP forecast of Germany's five leading research institutes. On Thursday, the institutes revised their growth forecast to 2.4 pct from 1.4 pct for this year and said the economic upswing will continue into 2008, with GDP growth forecast again at 2.4 pct.The report said that for 2007 the government prognosis, which currently stands at 1.7 pct, may be slightly more pessimistic than the institutes's.judith.csaba@thomson.comjcs/gpCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2007.
