ZURICH (Thomson Financial) - Novartis AG said it was reviewing the potential impact on 2007 results of Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd's battle to launch a generic version of the Swiss company's Lotrel high blood pressure drug in the US.Lotrel is sold only in the US and had 2006 sales of 1.35 bln usd.Yesterday, a US federal court judge extended a temporary restraining order related to Novartis' patent infringement lawsuit involving Lotrel until May 29 and stopped Teva from shipping any further generic copies of the medicine until further notice, Novartis said. However, the judge has allowed Teva to sell any generic copies of Lotrel, a single-tablet combination therapy for patients with high blood pressure, that reached distributors and customers before the initial court restraining order on Saturday.Novartis said it will continue to 'vigorously defend' its intellectual property rights, including the validity of the Lotrel patent -- which expires in December 2017 -- against any generic challengers.johanna.treeck@thomson.comjmt/vsCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2007.
