China insurance companies 2006 premium income 564.14 bln yuan, up 14.4 pct

BEIJING (XFN-ASIA) - China's insurers booked premium income of 564.14 bln yuan in 2006, up 14.4 pct, the China Insurance Regulatory Commission said in a statement on its website.

In 2006, insurers reported investment income of 95.53 bln yuan, with the return on investment at of 5.8 pct, up 2.2 percentage points.

At the end of 2006, China's insurers had assets of 1.97 trln yuan, up 29 pct.
