NEW YORK (AFX) - AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), which provides AIDS healthcare, prevention and education in the US and runs free AIDS treatment clinics in the US, Africa, Latin America/Caribbean and Asia, said it will file a lawsuit against Pfizer Inc, over the marketing of its erectile dysfunction drug Viagra.

AIDS Healthcare Foundation will hold a press conference today at 10.00 am New York time to announce the lawsuit.

AIDS Healthcare Foundation said it will file the suit early this morning in the Superior Court of the State of California, Los Angeles County. The suit alleges unlawful, unfair and fraudulent business practices in violation of California Business and Professions Code.

The suit alleges Pfizer's unlawful and deceptive marketing of Viagra has caused an increase in the spread of sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV/AIDS.

The foundation said: 'Pfizer has engaged in and continues to engage in this conduct despite clear evidence of its illegality and harmful effects.'
