NEW YORK (AFX) - Australia-based construction materials supplier Rinker Group Ltd. said Monday it acquired Salem, Ore.-based construction materials producer Walling Sand & Gravel.Financial terms were not disclosed.Walling, a privately owned group of companies, was established in 1940. Its West Salem quarry is the largest in the region, according to a Rinker release.Rinker's U.S. subsidiary Rinker Materials has an existing business in Portland, Ore. Walling will be a 'bolt-on' to that operation, according to Rinker.U.S.-traded shares of Rinker added 45 cents to $72.20 in morning trading on the New York Stock Exchange.Copyright 2006 Associated Press.
